About Us
In 2004, six men at Indiana University of Bloomington believed that men of all descents need the opportunity to participate in the Greek System. The founders wanted a multi-cultural Interest Fraternity to breakdown the negative stereotypes associated with people of different cultures by educating themselves and others of their heritage and cultures. In recognizing this need for Greek opportunities for men interested in multi- culture ideals and issues, a fraternity was established by Henry Chang, Antonio Salvat, Jacob Liu, Matt Koberlein, Chuang, Ming Chang, and Simon Ko. These men envisioned a brotherhood in which this could be achieved.
Making every effort, these six men built the foundation of what is envisioned today as Lambda Alpha Phi. Built upon on the primary principle of Brotherhood, the system of belief also includes the servitude to the community, promoting diversity, excelling for academic excellence and creating a unified worldwide network. Today, the charters of Lambda Alpha Phi, from different nationalities and backgrounds, continue their conquest and vision to further empower and unify the global community at IU.
Mission Statement
Lambda Alpha Phi's fraternal goal is to establish a unique bond among men of different cultures. The whole ideology of LAP is for members to thrive together and break cultural barriers and ignorance. Some of our constitution bylaws are as follows:
- Offer men of this campus an opportunity to share their own unique culture with this fraternity in order to exchange knowledge and perspectives in hopes of creating an understanding of individual differences.
- Promote respect and awareness of diversity within the fraternity, the surrounding community, and on campus.
- Present itself in a warm, open manner so as to exemplify how people should treat each one another and that all groups are welcomed.
- Show what can be done when men of different races, cultures, and backgrounds come together to make a difference on this campus.
- Offer its members the opportunity to develop their leadership skills, share ideas within a safe environment, and develop networking skills.
- Create an influence on campus that will preserve the idea of strength in diversity as a tradition long after the founders have stepped down.
Reestablished in 2004, Lambda Alpha Phi, Inc. is a fraternity that serves to increase multi-cultural awareness and participation in the Greek system through an uncommon commitment to brotherhood, academics, and community service. Come see how you can be a part of this great movement to help promote diversity on the IU campus!
